Opportunities to Help
We have found many opportunities to help just by scrolling through our social media. Some of these are on private accounts so we are not able to post a link to them but we still want you to know about these grassroots operations going on in the community.
* Brushland Eating House is closed for regular business but they are doing a fundraiser every Thursday to help keep their staff afloat. $20 suggested donation gets you a beautiful plate of southern BBQ. Brushland and other Bovina area folks (like Bramley Mountain Farm) are donating the food so that all profits v=can go to the staff.
* Andes residents have organized the Andes Main Street Hospitality Fund, saying this:
TAKING CARE OF THOSE
WHO TAKE CARE OF US
We’ve had the good fortune to eat, drink and occasionally raise hell at the Andes Hotel, Wayside Cider, General Store and Rosalino’s.
These places are peopled with folks that are the core of our community, our friends.
With the mandate to close all non-essential businesses they are in acute need for our community to show how much we love and appreciate them and how truly essential they are.
We are raising funds to support the Bartenders, Servers, Kitchen Staff and Cleaning Staff of these Main Street Andes institutions. Every dollar counts and every penny goes directly to those out of work in the hospitality industry of Andes, NY.

* Animal Shelters may be closed to the public but our furry friends are still being taken care of. Heart of the Catskills Humane Society is in need of wet and dry food (for cats and dogs),bleach and paper towel. Donations can be dropped off at the front door (on a dry day).At least one of our friends has done an online delivery right to them.
We would like to add to this list, if you know of something that should be here please reach out and let us know.
Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking volunteers and supporters to assist in the sewing of protective fabric masks. While the fabric masks are not a substitute for healthcare grade respirator-type masks, this is a coordinated effort to use the fabric masks to extend the life and supply of the respirator masks. These respirator masks are in critical short supply nationally, and provide the best protection for our health care workers, patients, and community.
Per O’Connor Hosptial:
Right now, the American Red Cross has an ongoing critical need for blood product donations as uncertainties remain during this coronavirus pandemic. The need for a sufficient blood supply is ongoing. Healthy individuals are needed to schedule an appointment to give in the days and weeks ahead to help patients counting on lifesaving donations. Find an upcoming drive near you
